This year, eight cutting-edge healthcare products and groundbreaking startup companies were showcased at Premier’s 11th annual Innovation Celebration.

401 MEDICAL, INC. — LifeFlow

LifeFlow is simple hand‐held tool for rapid, controlled delivery of a fluid bolus in critically ill patients. With LifeFlow, healthcare providers are able to set up and deliver a fluid bolus in minutes, which may reverse hypotension and shock, including septic shock.


Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI) impacts 3.4 million people in the U.S. and the annual cost of CLI is over $11 billion. The Lutonix 014 Drug Coated Balloon PTA Catheter is a drug0-coated percutaneous transluminal angioplasty used in native popliteal, tibial and peroneal arteries. 91 percent of patients in the LUTONIX® BTK IDE Trial had CLI.

The LUTONIX® 014 DCB showed non-inferiority in primary safety vs. PTA at 30 days and six months. The LUTONIX 014 DCB was better in primary efficacy, primary patency, and freedom from CD-TLR vs. standard PTA at six months. The LUTONIX 014 DCB showed 20 percent improvement in primary patency vs. standard PTA at six months. LUTONIX 014 DCB is currently undergoing review with the FDA.

The RAILWAY™ SHEATHLESS ACCESS SYSTEM enables direct access to the radial artery with a guiding catheter and eliminates the need for an introducer sheath, reducing the size of the puncture site up to 2F. A smaller puncture size can minimize bleeding, shorten recovery time, and the risk of access site complications. The RAILWAY™ Device can facilitate tracking through complexities in the arm vasculature to allow the dilator and guide catheter system to seamlessly advance to the subclavian artery. The RAILWAY Kit comes with two dilators, one which is used for direct guide catheter access in planned PCIs and the other that is used following a diagnostic procedure to allow the operator to upsize to a larger guide catheter without increasing the access size profile.

With a tapered and hydrophilic tip, the RAILWAY device offers a smooth transition from the wire to the dilator and the dilator to the guiding catheter to help minimize arterial trauma and spasm.

ActiGraft is a wound care kit that enables the caregiver to transform a patient’s whole blood into an autologous clot that is affixed to the wound, recreating the natural wound‐healing environment. It’s a point‐of‐care treatment alternative to expensive synthetic graft options and using only 10 ml of a patient’s own blood. ActiGraft serves as a protective, provisional extracellular matrix (ECM) that contains the cytokines and growth factors (e.g., interleukin, transforming growth factor‐β, platelet‐derived growth factor, and vascular endothelial growth factor) released by the degranulation of activated platelets. ActiGraft also recruits endothelial cells and fibroblasts, which begin to synthesize a permanent ECM at the wound bed, in addition to inducing the migration of neutrophils, and wound macrophages. ActiGraft serves as a protective covering over the open wound, under which remodeling takes place undisturbed for seven days, as well as serves as a biologic scaffold, and as a wound microenvironment to promote healing.
